What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold Laser Therapy (also called soft-laser) is a painless, safe and non-invasive treatment using light energy of a specific wavelength, usually between 600-1,000 nM which falls within the infrared light spectrum. This range allows deep penetration into the injured area and rapid healing and regeneration of damaged cells and tissues. Cold Laser Therapy has been in use since 1967 and has been documented in over 2,500 clinical studies worldwide, including hundreds of placebo controlled, double-blind studies that have documented its benefits. The laser light is not visible to the human eye and does not cut or cause any tissue to heat up like lasers that are used in surgical procedures.

What Conditions Does Cold Laser Therapy Treat?

The following have been found to respond favorably to Cold Laser Therapy and I have  personally treated them in my clinic with excellent results:

  • Hand and wrist pain due to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)
  • Neck pain
  • Upper and lower back pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Post surgical pain
  • Ankle sprain
  • Acute impact injuries
  • Joint ,tissue, and nerve inflammation

How Does Cold Laser Therapy Work?

Just like plants absorb light energy from the sun through photosynthesis, the cells in our body when exposed to the cold laser light experience a series of biochemical reactions. These biochemical reactions stimulate a natural biological process that has a profound healing affect. These reactions are beneficial to the cells and stimulate tissue repair, increase blood flow and oxygen to the area being treated, aid in reduction of swelling, enhance intra-cellular communication, and release of pain-killing hormones called Endorphins.

Cold Laser Therapy Treatment With Dr. Hans

Leave it to the Israelis to come up with Cold Laser Technology that not only packs in the power of a traditional laser usually requiring large equipment to run it in a clinical setting, but is a portable, hand held devise that weighs only 175 grams, and can treat a larger surface than most other lasers of this intensity!

The Cold Laser that I am using in my clinic is Patented Israeli Technology called the B-cure Laser Sport and is considered for professional use in a clinical setting. It uses a wavelength of 808 nM for maximum penetration and absorption into the tissues, and treats a large surface area with deep penetration of 4.5 cm!

No wonder this laser is used and endorsed by the prestigious Wingate Institute, and has been officially named the Israeli Olympic Committee’s medical devise for treating the Olympic athletes in the 2016 Olympic games in Rio.

Along with chiropractic treatments, Cold Laser Therapy speeds up healing and recovery from trauma and injuries to the body at the root of the problem and helps significantly with pain reduction.
